AI in the Regulatory Affairs Sector - Are You Prepared?
TOPRA will host its next Ireland event at the offices of the Irish Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) This in-person evening event will consider how artificial intelligence (AI) is impacting regulatory professionals.

Liam Rogers
, has over 15 years of experience in the life science industry, specialising in digital strategy and organisational growth. His career began at Choice Pharma CRO, where he quickly implemented modern practices of IT cloud adoption in accordance with FDA and EMEA regulations.
Liam is NSF's Global Senior IT Business Partner, focussing on cross-industry projects and growth initiatives ranging from CRO to Pharma/Biotech Consulting. He is globally accountable for Technology in Life Science, which directly contributes to the NSF's mission of improving global human and planet health.
Ronan Donelan PhD
, Stakeholder and Policy Lead, HPRA. Ronan has more than 25 years’ experience gained with International Pharmaceutical companies and a global Clinical Research Organisation. He has led Global Regulatory Affairs and Regulatory Science functions supporting clinical trials programmes and Marketing Authorisation filings with particular focus on Rare Disease therapies / OMPs. He was also a founding member of an international pharmaceutical company located in Dublin. More recently, he joined the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA). He has a keen interest in Regulatory Science, synergistic relationship builds and the increased adoption of AI in delivery of medicines.
Gabriel Beechinor
is the HPRA’s Veterinary Director. With over 37 years of service, including 25 at senior level, Gabriel leads a team of 40 colleagues, accountable for the authorisation and monitoring of veterinary medicines as well as the use of animals in Ireland. He has served on various European regulatory committees, most recently on the HMA-Management Group, and holds degrees in Veterinary Medicine, a PhD, and an MSc in Executive Leadership. He has an interest in knowledge management as well as the potential of AI to improve business efficiency.
Patrick Kilbane
is an innovative Quality Assurance leader with 25 years experience across drug development and delivery including clinical trials, laboratories, manufacturing, distribution and pharmacovigilance. His career has included time at a range of small / medium / large pharmaceutical and biotech companies in Ireland, the USA and Switzerland. More recently the CRO world has been home and he is currently the Head of Vendor QA, Tech QA and Quality Systems at ICON Plc.. A longstanding supporter of industry bodies (e.g. RQA, ISPE) across Data Integrity and technology areas, including AI.
John Wilkinson
, Chief Executive (interim) TOPRA. John has many years' experience in the medical devices industry in a variety of sales, marketing and general management roles. More recently,?he has focused on regulatory affairs. His previous roles include Director of Devices at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), Chief Executive of Eucomed, Director General of the Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI), and a number of positions with Becton Dickinson and the BOC Group. He is currently Chair of the Global Medical Devices Nomenclature, as well as providing strategic advice to a number of organisations. He was awarded an OBE for services to the medical devices industry in the 2010 New Year’s honours list.
