Gabriel Beechinor has more than 30 years’ experience in the regulation of veterinary medicines, both in Ireland and in the wider European network.
A qualified veterinarian, Gabriel is Head of Department and is responsible for the authorisation of veterinary medicinal products in Ireland. He leads a team of 35 colleagues. His department is amongst the leaders in the European Union in their contribution to the authorisation procedures. Uniquely in the EU, his department is also responsible for the promotion of the 3Rs as well as operation of the system for licensing of studies on scientific animals in Ireland.
Gabriel has both a Bachelor's and Master’s Degrees in Veterinary Medicine from University College, Dublin. He also graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Trinity College Dublin and was awarded a Master of Science in Executive Leadership by the University of Ulster in 2010.
Gabriel has served on several scientific and regulatory committees in the EU medicines network, including the Committee for Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use, as well as a number of its working groups and in the Heads of Veterinary Medicines Agencies.
